The time has come for me to make a major change to my business model. This was a very difficult decision for me to make, with many tears and lots of soul searching. But the time seems right and everything seems to be falling in place. I’m going to put an end to the rumors, and set the record straight about what is happening with me and the shop.
We will be moving once again (please may it be for the last time!). Our operational expenses are taking up too much of the shop income and I’ve been unable to put as much into inventory as needs to be. So.... I’m partnering up with a related, compatible business -Sew Crafty-to share rent and utilities to reduce those expenses and allow me to put more back into inventory.
This means that will be moving from about 2,400 square feet to around 500 square feet. The good news is that I will still be able to keep around 1,000 bolts of fabric and a wide selection of patterns and notions. It also means that I’ve gone through my existing inventory and the slowest moving items will be gone. Fresh and new merchandise will be coming in more frequently. The new shop will not be as wide open as the existing shop, but instead will be filled to the brim with fun.
After the first of the year, I hope to have my new mobile shop up and running. This shop will be a converted shuttle bus filled with quilting supplies. The idea behind this unit is to be able to go to quilting retreats (how often have you left something important at home or changed your mind about one of your fabrics for a project) or to guild meetings or just to have a quilt shop come to your town for a few hours of shopping fun. It’s an idea that started about 15 years ago as a joke at a retreat I was hosting, but I believe the time is finally right.
You will also see me at more quilt shows starting next year. If you belong to a guild that has a show and needs vendors (in the state of Oregon), please let me know.
So despite rumors of me being completely closed, the facts are that the shop will still be around in some new and some old forms. As for now, we are still open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm until October 31st. We will be moving October 13th and 14th and reopening on October 15th in the new location 1160 Oregon Ave SW, Bandon. Our phone number will remain the same (541-347-9021), as well as our website (www.forget-me-knots.net) and our email (michelle@forget-me-knots.net). We will be open on Tuesdays from 10 am - 4 pm November through May and 4-5 days a week in the summertime. We are also available by appointment.
Events We will be having a store wide sale from October 8th through 12th on most of our stock. This is an in-store (current location) only sale with everything being a minimum of 30% off. We will also be offering many items at a steep discount that I don’t want to move if possible. So there will be some $1 notions and patterns, and a selection of fabrics at $5 a yard.
For those who like to shop online, many of the steeply discounted items will be available also through the website, but the 30% overall discount will not be available.
